I think there will be at least 50 grown world-wide & wouldn't be surprised if there are 75. Everyone I talk to has the biggest pumpkins that they have ever grown at this stage of the game. Last year I was convinced that nothing would beat the 2145's, but it looks like the 2145 crosses/offspring are going to be even better. How many 2000 pounders do you think will be grown this year?

No more then 20, 2000 pounds is not easy to grow even with great genetics like the 2145 & 1625 it's not something everyone will get by just putting a seed in the ground, there's still a hand full of people that put in the time and work it takes to grow a 2000 pound fruit, those are the people you see consistently growing large fruit, I don't believe we'll see 50 plus 2000 pound fruit, if you think about it there hasn't even been 50 2000 pound fruit ever grown.

There has only been 27 fruit ever over 2000 pounds, I don't believe we'll see to many over 2000 it's still rare.

Quite a few, my guess is 40. I've seen a few on FB over 1900 and Pattons alone look to have 2 or 3.

Less than 20, I guess, because some of the look-like-2000-ones will go light (a couple of them need to, otherwise the statistics wouldn´t work), and perhaps the one or the other won´t survive until weigh-off (this includes the DMG fruit which maybe show up on the scales). Anyway, good luck to everyone, may luck be with you and may there be more than 20 of those 2000+ pumpkins, but I can´t see it yet.

Last year their were only 41-1,800 lbs. 23-1,900lbs so i think that maybee 15-17 2,000lbs for this year.

Also the reason it appears to be a lot of huge fruit has to do with the new ott chart

I say 10 to 12. Maybe 18 but your guess of 50 is very high like Mellow Pumpkin said there is only 27 in 5 years since 2,000 was first broke.

I think we are all going to be surprised by the number of really, really big pumpkins thus year. Maybe it is just happening in Nor-Cal, but I have a pretty strong feeling it is going to be everywhere.

I agree with Russ. 50 world-wide. How about a weigh-off with 2000# Top 10 average one of these next few years.

east coast has had a rather cold and wet spring/summer this year. I think some growth has been stunted due to this but time will tell. good luck everyone

It's looking like more and more of the experniced growers are pushing numbers not seen before. I'm going to say 25 would be my guess, many could weigh light or devolvep promblems in the next 50 days. Otherwise I see quite a bit that are heading to 2000 pounds.

megakin, it sounds like a 2145 seed. I don't think we'll grow 23.9 2000 pounders though,,, 23 maybe, 24 but not 23.9. :)

I just changed my guess from 40 to 41, but then then back to 40 after reading Megakins guess, and then after thinking about it again over a coffee, another big one will come out of the northwest, so 41 is my final answer. Come to think of it, it's been wet up in the Northeast so 40, but then again the Patons are on a roll so 41 cumulatively... but, given a cold spell in the upper Midwest will compromise final weights to make me make me go back to my original post 0f 40 pkns over 2K. What do I win>

Hard to argue with cojoe. 18-26 is pretty likely. I'll guess 18 though.
The 2017 OTT chart should correct the heavy pumpkins we've seen in the last couple years at the high OTT range, so that could be part of the reason this season is looking so good; the chart gives you more lbs now, but will take them away at the scale, so be aware.
We should expect more to-chart (+/-5%) pumpkins going forward. so an OTT of 461" (est 2009lbs) has ~50/50 chance of 2000lbs on the new chart. As it should be.
To be more sure you've got a 2000 lber, higher otts are better:
OTT of 480" (est 2204lbs) has 90% chance of 2000lbs OTT of 470" (est 2101lbs) has 75% chance of 2000lbs OTT of 451" (est 1908lbs) has 25% chance of 2000lbs OTT of 442" (est 1818lbs) has 10% chance of 2000lbs
