I'm new, brand new, and wondering if my 5 inch pumpkin has been pollinated! I know that squash will grow to a few inches even if not pollinated.
If soil and conditions are good how fast will a pollinated kin grow. I know there are lots of variables but any feed back would be great!
Thanks,Tim

Thank you so much for the reply! It's shiny but I didn't pollinate so the bees must have! It's probably 10-14 days! How big could/ should it be at 2 weeks! I haven't buried any secondaries and the the main is close to 20 feet!
Thanks Porkchop- I need a mentor??

At 10 days it ideally should be right around 16 to 20 inches in circumfrence.

I don't yet but I will tomorrow. Your reply earlier was much appreciated! It is shiny and about the size of a cantaloupe. I actually pollinated one yesterday but I think I have a second one already pollinated. Judging by the shiny appearance of the second one also that is now 21/2 - 3 inches the one I pollinated yesterday could be the third! I'm not sure which one to let grow?! The first cantaloupe sized one is about 12 feet from the root, the second one is 15 feet and the one I pollinated is about 20-25 feet! The plant is really healthy and about 25 feet! It was planted June 26 so I think it's really doing well! Any thoughts on which one to let grow! Thank you

The new growers forum is a good place to start for information if you are new to growing these big ones. Seeds are shared here if you build relationships with people, so don't be a stranger, chat people up.

When I select a pumpkin to keep, I look for symmetry on the lobes and placement on the vine. Not necessarily how far it is, but in relation to the space it will need to grow into. You should be about basketball size by 10-14 days.

Good luck and keep reading up on possible issues that may present themselves. Start learning about fungicide and pesticide rotation.
