Love your positive attitude Dustin, cold storage Petunia may yet yield good results.

Petunia was definitely a unique girl with lots of dangerous curves! Sorry she couldn't stay in the game!

Thanks everyone! Just trying to get her to not rot, ok if she loses some weight. I'll try to swing by the scrap yard to get an actual weight on my way to the fridge. Was a fun kin to have in the patch this year!

Thanks again everyone. She just wasn't meant to get to a scale I suppose. Scrap yard was closed on the way to the university, so she'll have to stay the 665 Trychta EST.
We've not lost her, or her spirit as of yet. She is still making people smile (though randomly and unexpectedly at the moment) and she is still a tool to learn from. I consider myself a true horticulturalist. These babies are my babies. When my dog broke his back, I didn't question the wife's decision to try to save him, despite the odds, we just did everything we could and left it up to him to get better. Though a little crooked now and not as active, Elvis is still gracing the world with his snaggled tooth. He's still beautiful to me even with the flaws, and Petunia will be no different. Family is family.
The goal used to be to get her to the scale. As they seem to do in this game, the goal just changed a little as the season progressed. Now my goal is to give her a proper burial... at sea, as she was meant to go in glory!
It was a seed shared with me by a dear friend, It excited me all winter to get to plant it, and gave me a hell of a ride for the better half of the season. Almost six years to the day of when I blew up my first pumpkin, this taught me a lot. It taught me that I'm back on my original goal of getting a big one. I was a little trigger shy after the first one popped, but have gotten my confidence back and am ready to push harder to finish strong with the rest.
Don't be sad, because I'm not. It happens and will happen again. Consider it a great practice run for the next season.
Stay tuned. It may be a little crazy, but everyone seems to have a little crazy in their extended family :)

I have really enjoyed your diary Dustin. You have a great attitude..always looking for something new to try. I am really looking forward to your crazy ideas in this winters indoor tomato challenge. I known your indoor setup is already higher tech than mine. Keep the rest of your kins in one piece...hope the growers can overcome the rowers in your regatta.
