How do I store/keep my pumpkins healthy until my event or weight off. My pumpkins will be done growing 2 weeks before my weight offs and I just want to know tips how to keep them in healthy condition until then. When do you start letting your pumpkins get sun to orange up or will this happen as the ripped up more. Also when it's done growing do I leave it on the vine till my weight off?

Keep the plant as healthy as you can by even watering and spraying the leaves for powdery mildew.Keep the pumpkin shielded from direct sun with a white sheet.Leave it on the vine till picking time.

bakers man ---- here on the east coast (rhode island) we uncover our pumpkins during the day in sept to allow for coloring up ( providing there are no issues with extreme heat-etc)
when its done growing i would just keep the pumpkin hooked up and watered very sparingly for those last couple weeks. if it must be pulled from the patch? keep it in as cool a area as possible. if its really hot in your area those couple weeks your holding it? keep the pumpkin shaded as well.
here we just cover during the season with a white bed sheet or large white banquet table cloth. if its getting late in the season and a lot of bad cool weather? we cover at night with blankets and of course if its heavy rain we may use a large tarp as well.
all different ways to protect if need be.
