My 2261 Wallace was putting on 30 lbs a day till last Saturday around 23 DAP, It then hit 108 degrees. Then it just put on nothing for a day. I thought for sure it was done and probably aborted due to the heat. To my surprise it put on 11 lbs 2 nights ago, and 22 lbs last night. and looks like the growth may make a come back.

Even though I probably will have terrible day 30 numbers, is it likely to continue growing and go above and beyond 30 lbs a day, or is something like this considered permanent damage?

Besides shading, misting the plant every half hour, fans is there really anything else you can do in that heat to help the kin in that kind of heat? The plant was not droopy at all and is well rooted in.
Any advice is appreciated...

Plants start shutting down around 90F. Shade cloth and misting a couple times a day will help to prevent shock.

Keep the soil moist but not soggy. They transpire a lot of water when its that hot, and that is natures way of cooling the leaves down. I watched an Iowa Public TV video about Don Young one real hot summer. He was keeping moist sheets on the pumpkins. http://site.iptv.org/fair/story/2074/growing-giant-pumpkin-iowa-state-fair-2012

I don't have advice for you but the above, I'm a couple miles from you and feel your pain. That was a brutal week. All 80s ahead after the storm tonight. Good luck Zack

Hang in there, Out of Colorado our weather pattern has now shifted... The Monsoon is here. Last night 2.5 inches of water at the patch..temps down 10-15 degrees cooler now...
Lots of flash flooding, some rain 2" per hour. Got to test my new 6" gutters last night... More predicted for the next week... GrowZem BIG Mother Nature is our biggest test.

It is almost above 90 degrees here everyday till September, luckily a cool front is here with a high of 85:)

Can't resist measuring did another 20 lbs last night. Wizzy- sounds like we all have difffrent growing challenges. In St. Louis when we get a storm, we typically get it bad enough to knock out a plant. Luckily haven't had one of those. ( knock on wood)

Got shade cloth, foggers. So it probably would have been bad if I didn't have it those days. Like the idea of wet sheets on the kin, just would want to take it off at night to avoid devolving a soft spot or something else bad.

This explains why the MO weigh off doesn't have 1000 pounders every year. I'm way ahead of my personal best of 420 so I'll take what I get. Maybe day 30 to 40 will be better:)
