I was talking to a buddy about desuckering tobacco. He started talking about using mineral oil to stop the young suckers from growing any further. I was wondering what the action was that was shutting down the sucker growth. Then obviously, I thought, can we use this for pumpkins? First thought, as a swab on tertiaries before they even show so you dont have to go back in there when things get a lot more crowded. Second, wound healing? could you apply this directly to a cut and have it protect much like sulfur or captan? Does anyone have any experience with mineral oil they'd like to share?

No experience here but the thought of even any kind of oil much less mineral oil entering the plants system via a wound from eliminating suckers scares me. I would think any kind of oil based product would prolong healing and very well my invite more problems. I myself have used sulfer powder with zero problems, even on big tears breaks or cuts on the plants. Good Luck

I know your talking about prevention and not pulling suckers then applying the oil. Tobacco is a tuff tuff plant. I myself would stay clear of the thought! You would have to alter genetics to the plant to stop suckers and secondarys etc. IMHO, Good Luck.
