Hi all! So this year I planted Lagenaria siceraria to grow for birdhouses and trained it to climb a trellis. An eager bee pollinated one gourd early on and it's now the size of a bowling ball. We are a long way from fall. Suggestions? Let it go? Loosely support it with a net and keep adjusting? I'm assuming I can't cut it early because then I won't be able to cure it ...

let it go.You can tie the stem to the trellis if you think it cant support its weight. It will mature and be just fine drying on the trellis

I got my seeds from Seed Savers. They've been quite reliable. But in 6 months or so when the gourd is harvested and dried I'd be happy to send you some from inside. Should have been cleanly self pollinated. Nothing g else around to have crossed with it

Ryan, I have some I could send you but I buy mine through northerndipper.com Might just be me but my germination rate is way lower with my own than bought ones.
