Hi, A little while ago a mouse or something chewed into my main fine just before my last Pumpkin.
On Thursday my pumpkin was about the size of a golf ball, and today (Monday) its almost the size of a softball. The wound in the vine seems to be hardening over but I'm not sure if this pumpkin is worth keeping because of the damage to the vine.
What do you think?
My only other pumpkin is at 10 feet on the main vine and is almost the size of a volleyball. I'm going to have to make a choice which one to keep and which went to cull
Here is a link to the damage on the vine. This picture was taken last Thursday.

Thank you for any advice, Joe

Hey Joe, things have been looking good in your patch this year. That small wound (I know you think it looks huge...lol) will scar over and heal up before you know it. Keep it dry, and iplan ahead for your pumpkin cover...dry is the key!

Look back on my diary and you'll see the battles that I've had in the past with squirrels...these plants are amazing and will bounce back like you never expect. Jeff (wwflute) had a bad start and huge damage with squirrels earlier in the year...but you'd never know it now the way his plant bounced back...best of luck...I'm an Islander now!!

Great to hear from you Glenn. Glad to hear you're an islander now too!
Thanks for the info and hope you'll be growing another monster pumpkin next season.
I will do my best to keep the vine dry :-)
Thanks again!
