I don't think the patch can recover. The hail last night was devastating.

Horsejody I got hit hard with hail on June 16 1997. The plants were hammered. I knew the season was over. However the plants are tough and when stressed they come back with an attitude. By the end of summer my wife grew the 1st 1000 pounder on the west coast on a secondary vine. It split but our second largest won our local GPC contest. So don't count them out

I agree ...too early to count them out although I haven't seen pics...check vines really well for damage..they'll bounce back

It is looking like a bad year for hail damage. If you don't have an alternative plan hang in there with the hail damaged plants. A few years ago I was hit and gave up on the plants but did not pull them. A few weeks later I looked and was amazed at how well they had recovered. This year I pulled my hail damaged plants so I could focus completely on maters. I think they still would have grown a pumpkin to take to a weighoff had I not pulled them.

http://www.bigpumpkins.com/Diary/DiaryViewOne.asp?eid=239882 This was one of my son's plants on June 20, 2015. It was behind in growth due to wet cold weather, got hit with wind and hail. It came back, lost most of the main vine around Labor Day, very little September growth and it still made 899#. If it hadn't lost the main, it would have been well over 1000#. Unless all the growing tips were smashed, don't give up.

It's pretty bad. There is a lot of vine damage. I'm not pulling the plant. I'm gonna let it ride and see what happens.
