What would you say are the most important factors in keeping a newly pollinated pumpkin healthy? Do you alter your pesticide/fertilizer application frequency?

Keep plant well hydrated. Keep it wanting for nothing. Weekly fertz and pesticide/fungacide sprays. Keep an eye on the fruit for any mechanical adjustments it needs through out the season. Ask any ?'s you may have

I keep my covered with a towel, and a hut to keep it cool.

What WiZZy said. I put weed fabric and sand down under the pumpkin to keep the bottom dry and protected from mice. A little Daconil sprayed on the sand won't hurt to keep fungus away. I like to halt fertilizer for June to help prevent aborts, and don't start up until it is at least beach ball size. My biggest problem the past 2 years has been cucumber beetles and rabbits.

Use a plastic deck chair to protect is from the sun. Prepare the bed area. I use a rake and my bare feet to find and rocks. Then Level it.

Don't touch the pumpkin until it is growing and has some size to it. They are easy to scratch and they are likely to abort if you mess with them.
