Hello all, I already know posting a photo would be the easiest but I'm not a computer guy and not sure how to do it. I have a few bee like bugs flying around my pumpkins. about the size of a bee, maybe a touch longer. fuzzy black and yellowish striped body. long brown wings, and a head like a fly. anyone know what this might be? they land and bounce their rear on the ground real fast then fly to another spot. located in north Fort Worth Texas. thanks guys and gals

I have googled it a dozen times with 10 different descriptions trying to find it, and all I could come up with that was similar to the huron shore bee, but I doubt that guy is in north Texas!! atleast I know if I had wings id fly far away from this hot SOB!!
if you all could instruct me on how to upload photos, I will try to get a pic posted

I downloaded the app but what if I don't wish to start a diary? can I not just post a photo straight to this thread?

ok so I have submitted it as a gallery photo, but that does me zero good! I am really confused at this forum format, so I will just leave it be. I was hoping I could upload a photo to this thread so that the current conversation would have a photo for reference.

Once it is approved, it will be in your diary. People will be able to go look at it then and help you ID your bug. I agree that the format is a little different, but everyone here is used it and will be able to find your picture.

My guess would be that it is some kind of native bee. They won't harm your plants.

Sounds like what we call a news bee. Little bees that are annoying but basically harmless.

Try checking out 'Sesiidae' with your other search criteria. 'Sesiidae' are a family of moths which mimic the appearance of bees/wasps. I believe most (possibly all) species are borers. We're all familiar with the 'Squash Vine Borer'.
