The females on my 1044 Gansert and 1385 H/J are wilting and dying before they bloom. Any idea what's going on? Thanks

Sometimes the plant knows it is not ready. Are you shading the fruit from the sun? We move a plastic chair as the main vine grows. When a baby pumpkin appears the chair stops.

Here is a link to a discussion on that happening with one of Matt's genetic projects. Might help

I have seen that before. Just wait a while and you should get a keeper.

I have not been shading from the sun. I'll give that a try. And thanks for the link Spudder. Going to check it out right now.

I know my peppers do the same thing in high humidity and it's been pretty humid for the past two weeks. Maybe that is the issue? Thanks

Shading the pkns is a must from the size of a marble. Also, some plants just don't keep fruit well while in rapid growth stage and some do. Give it time, and hopefully it's not too far out.

How's your nitrogen levels ?

A few years back I was running my N to high and every female dried up and fell off. I started over watering and things worked out.

Could be what other said also.

I hope it works out for you.

I was thinking nitrogen levels also. We had a 1725 Harp plant that would do the same thing. We had high nitrogen numbers that year as well. Since that time, we've tried to keep them under control.

Good luck
