Hi bnots
Condolence from Germany for the loss of the pumpkinplants. I want to encourage everyone to use hailnets in further seasons. They are also good to ceep 10% or more from the sun away, so there is also less sunburn with hailnets.
I think if in the atmosphere was more CO2 the plants would grow much faster. So if there is less sunlight (because of hailnets), that doesn´t mean less growingspeed i think.
I hope my english is good enough to understand my point.
Regards from Germany

Thanks for the kind words. There is always next year. I have a feeling I will be shopping for a hail net this winter. I will have to look for one that blocks the least amount of sun, since my patch is already in somewhat of a shady area. I suppose it won't make a difference if I have advance notice that the storm is coming. Last weekend took me by a bit of a surprise.

Bob, My condolences on the damage to your plants as well. You seem to be taking it well based on your diary posts. Best of luck to you on the rest of the season. We still should have a long growing season left.
