I have a female around 13 feet who should be pollinated by thursday or friday. I was worried that 13 feet isn't that fae out on the vine, however amazingly my 2624 Wilemijns has 26 secondaries before this 13 foot female... 26!! Should I choose a later female or stick with 13 feet out because of the number of secondaries?

Everyone is a little different but I consider 13 ft right in the honey hole!

13 feet is the honey hole. Everything else you read including post from me is fodder. I'm just appeasing people who are pollinating at 20 feet.

Kidding, but that is in the big zone. Keep it if you can.

Good luck

26 secondaries on a 13 ft main seems a bit odd am I the only one that has this reaction? The distance is good fir a big pumpkin for sure but I can't believe there can be that many side vines. You couldn't access the plant if the vines are that tight.

There are 26. Only 6 inches between leaf nodes

I'll likely have to trim a few I'm not sure wht it's throwing out so many

I'd definitely trim some then. It will be too hard to access the plant and there would be hot dead air in there with no circulation.

Hayden. Before you pollinate you want a nice spread out plant that is big and you want the secondary's to be very long

Hey...what if you didn't kill a few of the secondaries but cut the leaves off? Still get contribution from all those extra roots?

That's an interesting idea...
