My one and only AG is giving triples of leaves and 2 tendrils and flowers at each node. Is there any hope it'll grow out of this? The main tip is a big cluster and hard to tell what's going on next.
Using a secondary is not a option, never works for me in the mostly shaded yard. I'd rather pull the plant and focus on other things if that's my only route.
Thanks in advance

Sounds like a double vine. I set a couple pumpkins on a double and they developed well. Surprisingly normal pumpkins on an ugly vine. Stick with it get a pollination wherever you can. Normal is not necessary! Good luck.

In 2015 we had one that was a ribbon vine, about 6 vines fused together. I cut the main off at a secondary for the new main. It left a hole big enough for a mouse to crawl up the vine if it wanted. http://www.bigpumpkins.com/Diary/DiaryViewOne.asp?eid=241349 We grew an 807 on that replacement main, and a 487 on a secondary. Probably could have gotten 1000 if we had just grown one. We aren't as shady as you, but we miss the early and late sun by being in a deep, tree lined narrow valley. Since that's all you have, what is there to lose by giving it a chance? Its early in the season yet, I would keep trying a while longer.

Luke, one of my 3 AG's showed signs of ribbon...and then a bunch o rain, and some 10-10-10 sprinkled around the lil thing, and some more water, and now it seems to be growing as a normal type AG vine, just luck...who knows? Time will tell!! Peace, Wayne PS...1489 VanHook

My plant last year was a double vine...it was a pain in the arse for the first half of the plant. First the leaves would easily blow over and split off, then later in the season the main vine got HUGE and split all over hell...amazingly the second half of the plant was perfect leaves awesome no splits on the vine nothing it was weird. Grew my largest pumpkin ever on that plant.

So with the successful double vines, did you prune the extra leaves at every node until it straightened itself out? The plant is about 7 feet long and has not split.
Thanks

No I left it do it's thing didn't mess with it much at the 7 foot mark. When the leaves broke or bent over I would prune them at that time. When the main vine finally split to two vines I trained one vine as my main and one vine as a side vine.

I need to decide soon, stick with that main that hasn't split or go with a secondary as new main. I'll be travelling in July so need a June pollination. The plant should be well over 12 feet by now, but is crawling along which is one of the symptoms of double\flats I could find on here using the search.

Looks exactly like my plant last year...Personally I'd wait and let it do it's thing. To me the plant looks very healthy...Hurry up and wait.
