This is what I was tolled from John Kramer who is in charge of the garden plots,"The District did change the rules for garden plot standards from 2016 to 2017, specifically related to fencing. I understand that you and your son believe the intent of the silt fence around a portion of your garden plot is to be a windbreak and not a fence. Unfortunately, I am not able to differentiate between vertical barriers in the regulations. As such I have asked that your son to remove the vertical silt fence and or replace It with the material allowed in the regulations. If the fence is not removed by the date posted the District will remove and dispose of the barrier. We will continue posting signs at all non-conforming plots and will deal directly with the renters.
I am allowing the use of the shade tarp awning (horizontally placed) and am allowing the weed mat to stay conditionally, if it is properly staked and maintained." Any comments would be great. Last year for me, WTF!

It is beyond me, when an official assumes you are in violation when he cannot" differentiate between vertical barriers"

Thanks for the input 26 west. If anyone needs silt fencing, I have two rolls of 100' each. Only really used one of the rolls for a few weeks. I will be taking down the silt fencing tomorrow. :(

Just to be clear, this conversation was very much from a person in charge to a "paying for the plots, FVPD tax paying and Kane County Forest Preserve tax paying resident grower". This man was very uninterested and very arrogant. The shade cloth is now termed a "tarp and an awning". I will be posting some new pics soon to show how ridiculous it is that Christopher needs to take down the silt fence, but other gardeners are allowed to use tree branches for fence stakes, pvc pipe, metal pipes, rope for fencing, plastic fencing, etc. The rules are posted in the biddygoat diary. "Boy Howdy" this is laughable and really ridiculous.

Below is some of the email to me from the director. The conversation with my son was ridiculous! Since I was in the same room and the guy was talking really loud, it was beyond me how this program continues!
Ms. Chandler,
This email is to reiterate the information I explained to your son, Christopher on the phone today.
The District did change the rules for garden plot standards from 2016 to 2017, specifically related to fencing.
I am allowing the use of the shade tarp awning (horizontally placed) and am allowing the weed mat to stay conditionally, if it is properly staked and maintained.

It is really good to know that the FVPD will never receiver any future recognition should any of my family members grow a giant!

They never asked or even cared about what we were doing until they targeted us in their rule changes. The only sign indicating a violation was ironically posted on my plots!! Discrimination!!

I saw the pictures in the diary and recognized the problem. It looks too much like someone knows what they are doing when growing Atlantic giants. Something your park director obviously doesn't understand.

baitman, I use 4' silt fence as a windbreak, so 10' might be a tad overboard!! LOL But, I do agree...build what they will allow, w/what they will allow!!! Peace, Wayne...and best of luck this year...Grow em BIG!!
