If you lost your main vine off one of your prized plants what would you do?
Were do I try to set a pumpkin now?

I just retrain one of the last/strongest secondaries to be the main.

usually the answer is, train one of your secondaries as the new main. Then business as usual. Good luck!

PS
I have family in Elk City, OK. Praying for your town after the tornado yesterday. Hope your family is all ok!

KC Kevin,,, and we think we have it bad with cool and cloudy weather..

I don't know what I'd do with tornado's running through the neighborhood!

Glad that's all that happened baker.

Train a secondary like said above and all will be forgotten next month.:) I've had great success doing this.

Winds have been really strong here, but my son placed silt fencing around his giant squashes. Seemed to help and is so far holding. He also designed hot houses to help with the cool night time temps over the next week.

If you still have a secondary vine, you can still attempt a fruit. Just bury the vines as usual, feed and water. Last year, I lost my main on a Wallace, but still had a decent fruit on a secondary without even a remaining stump!

Just let it grow and pick the best one. We get some pretty bad storms up here too, better now than later when your entire plant gets destroyed. This is what I came home to one day last summer. I salvaged 1 of 2 plants with about 80 bamboo staked leaves only to get a blossom end split 30 days later. Why I keep coming back I'll never know!
