Here's a fun early season game. Pick one seed right now, it has to be a new seed from 2016 that you think will be the new big thing next year.

I'm going with the 1642.5 Wallace it is far ahead of my other plants.

2230.5 wallace x 1625.5 Gantner

With genetics like that I can't see why this won't be the next big seed.

there is a good reason why a seed becomes in demand and a reason why it shoots to the top of the charts

1. genetics
2. amount the seed get planted
3. person/program used growing the seed
4. weather

so ill say whatever seed with good genetics get the most seasoned growers to tend it? has a better chance that a very few plantings.

Caper! The 1824 was a toss up for me. Good genes, currently that's my fastest grower. The 302D30 however, is right on its heals, and has very good genes. Hopefully I'm capable of growing them to their potential. I'm not seasoned as pap says. That's a huge hope of course, this is only my second year.

Thanks for all of the guesses! I really enjoy looking up all the genetics on pumpkinfanatic.com. There are so many great crosses it'll be fun to see which of these can do this best this year!

Good luck all and keep those diaries updated!

Of the three 2145 crosses I started, the 2066 Geddes is growing fastest. I'll probably beat Cindy at HMB with that one.

pap, with all due respect....I think you forgot, 1 other item!
5. Results Peace, Wayne
For instance, if 5 Golden Zone growers have picked the 1489 VanHook seed to grow, and it goes over 2K#'s 3 of those 5, and over 15% heavy in all 5, then the 1489 VanHook, will be close to the top of the list next year!! Know what I mean? It is what it grows!! Peace, Wayne
