I'm looking for a definitive answer if its best to leave stump exposed or better to bury it. what are the pros and cons of both? Few years ago I had a vine borer destroy my stump and dont want it to happen again. I dont see many topics on if its best to bury or leave it exposed. how do you guys guys go about it? Also, what pesticides should i use on the stump to keep them off it?

Leave stump exposed. I use contact pesticides with bifenethrin in it, and cross check for a systemic, same active ingrediant as merit which is imidiclorprid. There are a number of pesticides with these ingredients, just like most stuff, generic is cheaper than brand names. Good luck and I gope this helps.

I aslo use fly paper and mouse/rat glue traps all around the plant in addition to pesticides,,,they catch alot of the undesireables and cuke beetles up the wazoo
