So we have an auger for our tractor... has anyone used an auger to loosen the soil deeper? Something I wondered about doing at the end of the season or do you think it would cause issues cause if my clay? I know I'd have to reamend but I have to every year

j, I am in contact w/local farmer who owns a tractor pulled tool, called a sub/soiler? 1 tine plow, that is approx. 20 tall, who I hope will run it thru my pkn patch, and break up deep clay...then I hope to add bunches of well aged cow manure. This shit don't even smell anymore!!! Peace, Wayne

I used an auger once to drill dozens of holes to do exactly what you are talking about. I drilled about 30 holes at about 10 planting sites. It worked great. My only caution is that is might be hard on your tractor's clutch. I had to replace mine the next year, & I believe that my drilling binge was a big reason why it burn out.
