Hello, I have a question concerning some seeds I purchased.
I purchased four seeds this year.
One is from a 1,600+ pounder and the seed is huge The second seed is from a 1,700+ pounder and that seed is also huge.
My third and fourth seeds came from a 2100+ pounder but are rather small in size ... The seeds were all purchased from reputable dealers, but I am concerned about the two small seeds from the 2100 pounder.
I thought that very large pumpkins produce very large seeds ...
Any thoughts on my small seeds?
Thanks in advance Joe Coyote

Seed size only affects initial plant size. So for the first 2 weeks you may have a smaller plant, but it will catch up. Seed size won't affect pumpkin size. Big genetics should give you big fruit.

Some of the biggest AG seeds I have seen were generic ones from Lowes that max out 100-300 pounds... size doesn't matter as long as you have the real McCoy seed and the big genetics within it.

Joe Coyote, give me the 2 big seeds, you keep the small seeds...Honestly, it might not matter as stated above but if I am in a race I will bet on the big horse. Just my opinion. lol

Biggest seeds I've ever seen came from a 500 lb kin... way bigger than a quarter... I don't think seed size matters... I weighed a couple of the same seed and labeled 1 n 2 by seed weight... #2 was a faster and so far better starting plant

Seed size and shell color varies a lot. Some really big pumpkins have had relatively small seeds.Ive had small seeds(really small)produce giant plants.Dont factor in seed size when choosing what to grow-look at the genetics.

In giant vegetable growing it is always wize to grow the largest seeds produced by that one set of parents. That one set of parents will usually produce seeds of different sizes. However, different sets of parents will produce different size seeds. If the genetics are right, this is no problem. When growing your own seeds, choose the biggest you got from that one pumpkin. There is a reason why they are the biggest.
