I feel like if you are a GPC Officer you should be held at a higher standard... I think any officers who are causing divide in the growing community need to resign and apologize to the GPC community for the damage they are causing... if you have a personal vendetta against someone you should not be using your GPC position to be a platform to do so... I'm a 3rd year grower and disappointed in how people are dividing people... this isn't the way to attract new growers...

This does not seem to me to be a case of using GPC platform for personal vendetta. I have seen some of the emails that instigated all of this. I am sure that I probably have only a partial picture of the situation. I encourage all growers here to refrain from jumping to quick conclusions. Most of us have friends on both sides...

As a point of reference, when I was knee deep into this, and knew it was going to get ugly, I resigned my position on the GPC which was effective January first and came into full effect after the GPC convention in Niagara
I would never use the GPC and I also want everyone to know this whole deal is about honesty and integrity. When mine was heavily challenged, I responded

Well I have to beg to differ Eddyz. You absolutely used GPC. How can you say different? You used your reputation, your name, your word to start something that should have never been started.
I only have two questions for you and it deserves an honest answer for everyone here and everywhere else.
What do you hope to gain? What is the end game?
You can try to destroy another grower by bashing him buuuuttttttt do you think he will stop growing his kins? Is that the end game? To get him to stop growing?
Shame on you then.
I am heartbroken by this 9th grade girls locker room bull that was started by Eddyz.
I don't think Howard Dill envisioned this when he was teaching his children and grand children how to grow pumpkins. SMH in disgust!

I think he should... I'm entitled to my opinion... so would I be out of line to accuse Wizzy of cheating since he's a GPC VP and enters GPC contest? I mean people said Mark was wrong for entering his contest... What's good for the goose is good for the gander right? You people are so biased it's ridiculous... I'm speaking out because of how y'all treat people... my only connection to Mark is his contest... just like the gpc, gwg, and others... but to watch this makes me sick...

Who cares who marks manufacturer is? I dont... Don't like it... don't buy it... plain and simple... but to go after him with no concrete evidence is bs... I'm not defending Mark... I'm not for or against him but what I am against is making allegations without proof... we live in America where you are innocent until proven guilty... Canada may not work that way but America does... put out some concrete evidence and I'll be on him... but acting like kids and trying to push him around when in all actuality Mark was trying to help sponsor the GPC... is that a bad thing? Did you read that in the email? That's where this started... he tried to do something to help our hobby...

Hang in there Big T...every now and then this board has a hick-up and within a reasonable period it settles back down to an enjoyable experience. Most of us that have spent years reading these boards have our own opinions on the situation. This is an extremely messy problem..since the two individuals (please note the number jeremy) involved have both spent an incredible of personal time in the promotion of this hobby. They each have many growers that have benefited from their efforts and many growers that have benefited from both. Also, they probably have had some growers irritated with them...this happens when you are a high profile individual. What is the answer to this problem, I do not know yet...but I know the best answer is not going to come from letting emotion take control. I think the procedure is take it a bit slow...adult discussion and letting time show the answer. And lets have fun growing this season...for that is why we all come to this site.

If I manage to grow an Oklahoma record pumpkin this year while using some of Mark's products, I'm driving it to one of Gary's weighoffs in Colorado, just to maximize the awkwardness. :)

Honestly i think if their is an issue with any one or anything the the gpc officers need to get together in a meeting and discuss if their is a real problem. Not one or two that may have a grudge. I find it strange that several gpc officers are in marks club and others are tring to say he is scamming ? This clearly does not look organized and i think the gpc may need to take a look at how they do things.

Just a couple questions again because I never got the first answers.....
Eddy: What do you hope to gain? What is the end game? I will add.... I don't understand. I am really confused. Please explain.
Can't anyone grow with whatever fertilizers you want to or seeds? Or if you belong to GPC you have to grow with one fertilizer or one line of seeds? Is that a requirement?
And does it have to be your seed or fertilizers Eddy? Because if it is that is really sad. It's kinda like I have to drink Kool Aid because you do.
And this is new to me.... aren't people appointed to oversee the GPC suppose to be unbiased? Neutral? Have no vested interest? So this Wizzy guy is part of GPC? Eddy said he stepped down because he was knee deep in something he created himself. So I think JL has a point about Wizzy.
I hope I am not asking stupid questions but I am truly curious.

That's one thing the gpc insisted on with there rules.You can take your pumpkin to any gpc sanctioned weigh off and wont be turned away.You may have to pay a club sanctioned entry fee-but the same rules apply to all entrants.

I think to suggest that GPC officers can't be human and have personal opinions is to say that the officers cant be human. Ability to blend those opinions into group policy that is beneficial to the pumpkin community is what is feel is important. I have chatted with a few of the GPC officers. I have respect for them..I know that they have spent more time promoting than most of the people that are always bad-mouthing. Is everything ideal..i think not. The one thing I wish would happen with GPC is if the officers could somehow be elected to their posts. I do not know how this could be possible..who gets to vote? If you are very interested in this current situation..maybe you should contact your local GPC rep and nicely explain your thoughts. Sorry GPC officers..if you get swamped with contact...during one of the most important parts of the growing season. Winter would have been much better timing.
