Is anyone counting the flower lobes to get a bigger watermelon? An extra ovary could add weight?

I think most guys do! Probably even more important on a watermelon than an AG in my experience.

I think that the more lobes you have...it will be helpful in making a solid percentage heavy melon. I bet if you were to run some statistics you would see that. Four or more lobes is good. Three can grow big melons...but they have large hollow hearts in my experience.

I know they like to throw 3's. I don't have much experience with them but I had an odd blossom or two that had more. I'd speculate a three with a better vine position could still maybe outgrow a 4 on a wimpy vine, but I dont know that for sure.

Some of my biggest OTT have been 3 lobers, but they were disappointing at the scales.
