Anyone else having a very short season. My commercial fields and ornamental are 3-4 weeks ahead of schedule and ready to pick. Watermelons are way ahead of schedule along with squash. All I can figure is the wet and very hot May and early June caused plant s to grow faster than normal and the very dry and hot late June,July, and August matured them early. Hope they can last till Halloween. Going to be a lot of early picking and storing in shade here.

I think a lot was due the the weather in may and June like you mentioned. We picked up almost 12 day's on our first planting of sweet corn due to high number of growing degree days that sped the crop up.

Yep, March and April were stuck in Winter then went straight to summer in May.

I have field pumpkins turning orange too. We had the coldest0 April in recorded history, followed by 5th hottest May ever. June and most of July were hot, then a cool off in late July early August. Now we are in super high humidity, no breeze, PM starting up. Rough conditions for pumpkins.

Yes, I have squash and pumpkins starting to ripen. Couple big field pumpkins are 3/4 orange already. So hot and dry here my plants are burning up. Will hope they hang on long enough to make it in the field till about The first week of October.

Yep record high temps here in the PN West this year are causing the giants to ripen early.

I have lots of winter squash and pumpkins ready from a Memorial day seeding. I will have to get them out of the field before the deer get them.
