If you look at Christmas tree layout not many secondary after the pumpkin. What do you think?

I think the Wallaces use extra long secondaries prior to the pumpkin. This is the only improvement I know of to the normal Christmas tree.

It only looks like a Christmas tree while the vines are growing. When the plant fills out it should be a big square or whatever shape you have allotted for the plant.

Glen is correct. At least the article I read about Paps 2261 showed a vine diagram and the couple secondaries before the pumpkin were grown out real long. I believe the strategy is to have more plant behind the pumpkin than in front of it.

Keep a couple secondaries at and after the pumpkin and the main. the vines closest to the fruit feed it the most especially calcium which doesn't travel through the plant well
