Hi, I was going to put some wood chips around the border of where I am putting the fence, I am Just wondering if there would maybe be any bug issues if I did this? Is this a good idea?
Thanks,

Insects like to overwinter in litter, squash bugs cucumber beetles but Svb overwinter in the top few inches of soil.

Yea, you'd be ok...it'll keep the weeds down at the edge of the patch...if it were me, I would put landscape fabric underneath to discourage hiding places and make it easier to lift them out in the fall....If you go for it, I would also prolly spray the wood chips with a contact insecticide during the season to hit the squash bugs that like to hide under wood/wood chips ...

Ok, now that you said SVB bugs can hide in their I might not do it now lol, There is not many weeds outside of where the fence would be anyway, I can just mow them over

Svb will overwinter in your garden's soil, they may not under wood chips.
