Ok, so I have expanded my patch. I estimated 1500 square feet . I went to measure today and got 1200 hundred. I've been looking at my patch lately with expanded area. It is still small but I am really not sure if two plants would work. I really badly want to get a pumpkin to a 1000 this year. But wth two plants in a 1200 area is that even possible? I don't want it to be too tight

I grew my 1114.5(1662 Stelts x 1770 Lieber) in a 20 by 30 foot space with a lot of shade and a lot of clay in the soil.
You can do better.

What size plants have you grown in the past? What were the results? What seeds are you considering? Soil, light, nutrients, etc will affect results if these are deficient you might want to focus on one plant otherwise 600 should be just fine

I grew my first giant pumpkins last year. 514 and 539.5 pumpkins the soil was very poor you could not dig into it at all it was like a rock. This year it is lots better. I have pretty good sunlight about 6-7 hours a day. I've added lots of lime and gypsum to my patch in the fall and last week again. My soil test in the fall came out pretty good but I was low on pottasium, everything else was good. I grew two plants last year that were about 17 feet long and about 15 feet wide

6-7 hours of sun isn't great but I'm sure with good seeds and soil you could get a pumpkin to 1,000. Have the plants face away from each other and (if you can) allow more of the plant to grow outside the patch (in the lawn maybe?). They do best at around 7-1k sq feet

The sun was an issue at the end of the season, it was an issue the entire season, 6-7 hours, end of the season in Mid august it went down to about 5 hours I believe. Since the sun angle changes. I will try to talk my dad into cutting some trees down. :)

I've hit 1100 + more than once in 500 square feet. If you plant two in 1200 you might do just fine.

Henry, Keep in mind that with two plants instead of one, you have some measure of insurance in regards to a split pumpkin, a mutant plant, etc.
