I haven't given up my friends It's been a slow road BUT we finally are moving forward again and are now at the last hurdle. Here is the latest back and forth
Hi Alaina,
For one sample only we would need to charge $30.25 (GST incl.), but we would look to reduce this significantly with multiple samples and consignments so that it's not cost-prohibitive.
Best regards,

Hi,
I am trying to assist a client in Canada, to export Cucurbita seed into Australia.
These are very small samples and will required 20% tested for cucumber green mottle mosaic virus (CGMMV).
It is expected one pooled sample of approx. 40 seeds will require testing.
Could you provide a quote for the cost for this testing, please.
(The client has been copied into this email, please reply to both email addresses)

So to explain this information. We currently have over 40 seeds, from 7 different pumpkins in Australia, They will be taking 20% of each seed and will test. We are doing a single test on these, so if one seed line is contaminated, then it will taint all, but that's what we are interested in pursuing, and will help us going forward. I am now starting to finalize all the "good" seeds to get them to the testing labs, I have several different seeds and a minimum of 5 of each pumpkin. When we do get these tested, we will test each pumpkin separately so as not to loose all if we have a contaminated one. The cost will be reduced greatly and I'm hoping to get it down around 7- 10 dollars per test. Actually in the grand scheme of things this is how it will break dowm. Example 10 1585 Werner seeds, ( thank you Ohio ) we will loose 2 seeds to test, leaving 8 seeds, and say $10.00 for the test. I like the end result and we are still playing with these numbers to ensure MAXIMUM entry of the top seeds

Eddy and the greater giant pumpkin growing community: so do we have cucumber green mottle mosaic virus (CGMMV)floating around in our seeds? Should we chance the test? I've got some over there too!

Ray So I will give a bit of back ground on this. 2 years ago, an Australian company purchased a large amount of cucumber seeds from a company in Ontario Canada. After the first season of growing the in Australia, the disease was found in the plants. Because it was a commercial farm the disease was reported and all remaining cucumber seeds from the original order was then tested and found to be contaminated. In the mean time 2 other company's shared the seeds down under and they also grew squash, the disease spread to the squash, so then the 2 company's lost their complete crops. Their is no evidence of this mosaic in giant pumpkins yet but the giants can get mosaics of other strains. I currently have a great amount of seeds in a testing lab as we speak, these seeds are from all over and different years so we will know shortly. Going forward and on the next run of seeds down under I will break out seeds into lots from each grower, Anything that comes back positive will be reported back yo the original grower. I will keep everyone posted
