i just lost a beautiful orange pumpkin, and it had gone soft and sloppy inside. i would really love to grow the seeds from it, is there a way to wash the seeds with anything, to get rid of any diseases? or do i throw them away? i don't want any disease problems next year.
thank you---garry

Wash them in warm water and dish soap.Get most of the slime off of them. Then lay them out on a flat surface, a window screen works best then leave them in a dry cool place. After a couple of weeks they will dry and you will easily be able to remove the light skin from them. You shouldn't have any trouble with disease. When you are ready to start the seeds in the spring a peroxide soak is a good idea. Just be sure seeds are completely dry before storing .
