I have been forwarded an email that chastised one of the clubs because of the Patton seeds. The auction participant accused the club of breaking up lots and selling seeds individually and how this was frowned on by pumpkin growers and he didn’t approve of this.
First of all, EACH and EVERY Patton seed was in its own envelope, there were ZERO sets sent TO ANYONE. I know this because up until today I’m the only person that seen any of the seeds from the Pattons Every posting of the Paton seeds up until today came from me. As I was asked for the contents of specific bubbles, I opened them , recorded them and sent the info back as requested At no time was there ever any information made to any clubs on germination rates from me. The lots were listed well in advance that there would be (1) seed per lot and was reiterated during the actual auction.

Eddy is right. I received seeds from the Patons as well (for myself and the Dutch auction). Each seed was individually packaged. They did suggest including two seeds of the 2252 because of mediocre germination, but the packages only contained one seed each.

Eddy and Brad are correct The seeds were sent out in singles and as we were in a rush to get them out (Ron and Pap kindly dried the seeds and sent them back from NY) we sent them before a germination test. We have given nearly all the seeds away and I did put a note on the message board when we found out. I suspect not everyone knows about this but we have been as honest as we can. I don't mind what the clubs do with our seeds as long as they go to a good home. Ps Its still, we feel, a good seed and we're planting it in our patch this year. Ian

It's obvious the person complaining has no idea what goes on behind the scenes to get the Paton seeds to clubs for auction.
Both Eddy Z and the Patons have been generous, courteous, and communicative in my experience, and they need to be given credit and respect for their efforts.
My thanks to you guys for all you've done and continue to do for the AG community.

Thanks Steve, but the person does in fact know as I have done the same curtesy for him. Funny thing about all this!!! I have had 3 issues in doing what I do to help growers, and all 3 issues I had are from this exact same person. So going forward, I will refuse anything from or for him.
