With the seed auctions coming upon us, I would like to hear some thoughts on a good seed or seeds that could be purchased that would produce deep orange and fairly good genetics for size. I'm interested in more in deep orange color than monster size. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

If your looking for Orange the team pumpkin auction has them on Friday night. Lot 6 is good, lot 9 my House seeds are all breed for deep Orange. You can see pictures of most of them in my 2016 diary under teacher. They were not big but were grown in a commercial patch that had no care beside fungicide and insecticide applications. It will probably be the cheapest lot, lot 10 is another good one. The Gansert seeds have a ton of HD winners over the years. The 1662.5 and 1030.5 DeBacco in lot 11 should throw big and Orange and last but not least is the 811 Gerhardt in lot 16 which is one of the top Orange producers but very scarce so it will probably sell pretty high. There is a lot of very good Orange in this auction.

Team pumpkin did their homework I see. Pretty much any seed with the name gansert, young, house or engel will get you where you want.

I myself keep finding my thoughts returning to the 705 debacco which is 811 x 2009. It hasn't seen much dirt sooo, lightning in a bottle perhaps?

I researched the background of the House seeds. The deck is stacked for orange.

A couple auctions may have a 1047 McWilliams, a self pollinated 359 Foss. It grew a Howard Dill winner for me last year.
