Just a fun question during the offseason. What year do you think the pumpkin world of 2624.6 lbs. will be broken. I'm guessing it will stand for awhile, after such an impressive jump from the previous WR. I'll guess it won't be surpasses until the 2021 season.

I think 2018 next year. there will be so many ways this year and more tricks that I feel it will be able to be broken in 2018

I think it falls again in 2017. If the first year out for the 2145 is any indication I think we will see 3k by 2021.

I am with you Doug I think it will stand but I wish everyone a great year and here's to 3,000! let's all share some secrets we don't want to share! My top secret is the seed scale i think if we weigh all our seeds we can identify the best candidates. A very good scale for $15 see my post about ten posts down. Feedback appreciated...

Honestly I would not be surprised if we see 3000 this year. Looking at a graph of the new vs old world record and the percentage change I think it is very likely :) or we will be very close!!

il gonna go against the grain this record will stand for long long time

I tend to see it like don does,2624 is ridiculous and may stand for awhile. everything has to be ideal to get there. The genetics are there though:)

i dont think 2624 will stand for more than 2 years...if you look at the history of the world record pumpkin, it seems to get broken every year or two. If 2624 can be done once..there will be in 5 years multiple growers that can break it. By then the record probably will be way into the 3k range. World record when i started growing was 1810.5. In 2016 there were 37 pumpkins weighed(counting 2 exhibition) that weighed more than the world record of 2010.

I believe the genetics are there for bigger than 2624 however it a marathon not a sprint. Its all about a long season with ideal temperatures. Most likely only gonna happen under plastic:). That limits the # of growers still in the game so well see.If I lived in. Minnesota, central Wisconsin, western washington up would go the greenhouse with a big fan and a heat source

Sorta thinkin, that someone, somewhere, will build the greenhouse w/big fan & heat source, and have several seeds w/potential! Been listening for a while, and have heard that a bit o luck comes into play...so, I'm guessing sooner than later!!! Peace, Wayne 2017!!! What do I win?

Cojoe - You can move into my house, build a greenhouse, and we can grow a WR if you want. We could be Team Q-Joe or Co-Q or Co-Tip whatever blows your hair back my friend. This is gonna be great. When should i expect you in MN? :)

AG growing has quickly become nothing more than a hope to grow a new PB or maybe a state record for the majority of growers.I do feel a new Canadian record is still obtainable but to beat 2624lbs is absurd! 95% of the growing community will never come close and it is for that reason i believe you will start to see more and more squash growers.

Q-Tip I think it will be one cold day in Colorado before you get Joe to move back here. His last name should ring a bell in your neck of the woods.

I think with good knowledge and the way a few of the growers are growing, 2624 will go down very soon.

I'm with Don, I think it will stand for awhile. Remember the 2624 is still the only pumpkin to beat the previous World Record.
