Has anyone looked into this https://www.aphis.usda.gov/aphis/ourfocus/planthealth/import-information/permits/plants-and-plant-products-permits/plants-for-planting/ct_smalllots_seed

I have had no luck sending seeds to the US lately. My post office always catches me and makes me put on a declaration. I'm going to try again but no guarantees. Im not sure how this permit works but it might be the answer.

I've seen that before and that just might be an answer to seeds going into the U.S.A.
Coming to Canada is even easier as our rules are not as strict and pumpkin seeds to date are not on the hit list.

I just use the customs sticker. The post office will give you a bunch of stickers so you can fill them out in advance which is faster.

"Dried pumpkin seeds" as the items listed and a $5 value has worked every time for me.

I have just applied for importation of small lots. It took filling a form out on the net, then I had to go to a local usda office to show id to bring it to level 2. I have just sent in an application to import carrot seeds from the UK. I wasn't sure what inspection station they will come in thru..so I guessed. I also added a note that said I was not sure. Will wait to see what the reply is. FlatNorm, what do you put down for inspection station?

Hey Don
We use the custom stickers & write "Giant pumpkin growing supplies" or "Giant vegetable growing supplies". Always works for us. Like Ryan, we pick up 50 stickers at a time from the Post office so we can fill them out at home.

You can mail seeds across the border a lot easier than you can drive them across. Go figure!

Must depend on which crossing. When I've used those customs stickers none made it. They used to always make it.

I just received my first seed importation permit today from aphis us dept of agriculture. After the hassle of getting level two access level for e-forms, it took only a few days for the permit to be issued. Still have the conditions to figure out but that can be done. After this first try for legal importation, I will apply for more permits. Last year I had many different seed packages seized...hopefully going forward I wont have any lost to customs.

bnot..the easiest solution is to use the 'invoice ' method. Add an extra column to the invoice for the 'shipper comments' and use that to identify the seeds which are listed. Use small zip lock bags for each seed and number them as per the invoice. They don't open them but simple look to see if they are the correct seed and that there are no extra stuff (pest seeds etc). after looking they ship them off to you by USPS.
