Is it ok to use cottonseed meal to lower ph and raise N and how much change could you expect, are there any guidelines for amounts.

The plot is just under 900 sqft ,and soil test shows a PH of 8 and that I dont need phosphorus but the meal is 8-2-2

It wont lower your PH dramatically. Most likely just a very small amount. But better to use cotton seed meal at least your headed in the right direction.Alfalfa meal will raise your PH slightly.Use sulfur to lower your PH. I would add it immediately as it takes a long time to break down

Test your water also because you can do everything right and soak it in with water that has a PH of 8. Within a few waterings you leach everything through and your back to square one

My well water tests just under 6 ,the only application rates I've seen are 40 to 60 pounds per 1000 sqft for a medium rate and on up to 120 pounds
