Should this matter if the pumpkin is grown inside or outside? I think the first large pumpkin that broke over 500 lbs was grown inside.

In my opinion. It shouldn't matter. Growing and getting to the scale is what matters. How use choose to grow is your choice. In the last three years I don't think there is a real comparison between inside or outside. Not enough info.
