So maybe a bonehead question. I have never had a pumpkin in a weigh off. I see EXH under the place category for the 2016 GPC standings for some Pumpkins. Example Ian & Stu's pumpkins. I was thinking maybe you could only place once per season but then I see 4 or 5 entries for Mathias's that all are placed. Just curious...

EXH is for Exhibition. Official weigh and met GPC rules for a sound fruit. It is because the grower weighed more than one fruit of the smae class at a single competition.

Just make sure the site records your multiple entries in the same category EXH & not like this.

Wizzy;
Can you enter both pumpkins one exh and win money on both?

You choose when you arrive what one is EXH and What is your entry. Only your entry is eligible for Prize

No you can only win $$ on one entree, and need to designate ahead of time which one is the Exhibition fruit. One cannot wait to see which one weighs heavier.

Wizzy, is that a GPC directive? I thought each weigh-off can decide how many fruit can be entered and qualify for prizes. I have known that the GPC will only accept one result per grower for their prizes but will consider top three kins w/ squashes from two or more weigh-offs for the 4000+ clubs.

Let me ask this for clarifications:
1-Must all GPC sanctioned weigh-offs allow only one entry per category to qualify for that weigh-off's prize money?
(can management decide to allow multiple entries?)
2-Can the GPC sanctioned weigh-off management allow a grower to choose which of their weighed fruit to be their entry or must all GPC weigh-offs competitors need to designate ahead of time which one is the official fruit.

It is up to the site how they pay their prize money as long as the majority is available to all growers competing.

The GPC only pay's GPC prize money to 1 grower/grower team per category.

The GPC primary focus is on fairness of competition, equal judging of entries at all sites, & the proper data entry to record all contested categories.

Unfortunately the execution of these focus points are not held with the same level prominence at all sites.

I don't understand why you would need to designate which one of your fruit is your "official entry" and which one is your "EXH" ahead of time. Maybe there is a logical response for this that I am not seeing, but why penalize a grower that doesn't have an inline scale at home. I mean regardless, they only get one fruit that counts.

No place in the GPC rules state you must designate which entry will be your official entry before you weigh it.

Some sites require that you designate your official entry before you weigh multiple entries in the same category.

Personally I feel it is a better practice to designate your official entry after you weigh them for the reasons you cited Q Tip.
