The 2145 McMullen. Wow!!! The next 2009 Wallace? What a "POWERFUL SEED"!!! I wonder how many are left??? I wonder what the 2145 will bring at auction??? How much would you seriously spend on the "World Record Breaking" 2145# McMullen seed for next year??? Let's hear all of your responses.

Fantastic plant....fantastic seed....one of the nicest, easy growing, disease resistant plants huge leaves and secondaries that grow like a normal plant's main, and very fast steady growing fruit. The heavy percent over the chart was the big bonus in the end. Great cross Gene and great parents to the cross Rick and Garry!!!

Ever since I joined in 2007 there's always been the occasional "what's the limit?" conversation. It seems 2500 was always the magic number. I'm quite happy and impressed to see a pumpkin not only reach 2500, but also go completely passed it. I think the 2145 brings something entirely different to the table, a whole new level of vigor that we've never seen before.

Just wondering what a 2009 Wallace X 2145 McMullen cross would bring? The 2016 results show none and with very few 2009's left will it ever be made and tried?

Gene, thank you for not only the great cross but also your generosity. 14% of the 1700+ pumpkins were grown of the 2145 this year with the next highest being the 2230 @ 6%.

there is not much to say but Thanks to every one that took a gamble on the 2145. From the biggest to the smallest and the ones that did not make it to the scales I was proud to see the seed get planted. With so many cross's to choose from it is hard to pick a seed. I have given all but about 3 of the 2145's and have 8-10 questionable ones left. So with said if you are looking for the genetics cross and not the name/weight the 1267 Westphall is the same cross and I think it is a great option. Bnot - you might want to ask Rick who was the master mind behind the 1756 ( Thanks Toni ) Good Luck to all next year! Gene

If you cant get a 2145 McMullen don't forget Gene's 800 est. The reverse cross of the 2145.Kinda the 1566 vs 1161 rodonis debate.Dont know how many 800's are out there, only know of two grown-mine put 207.5 pounds on my personal best.

The funny thing about the 1267 was that it had the same shape as Gene's 2145. Almost identical, albeit quite a bit smaller. Good walls. Great grower. I probably could have pushed it a lot harder than what I did. Watered it by hand. Gave it a couple foliar feedings of fish/kelp and that was it. Never sprayed fungicides or insectides on that plant either. Alot of what ifs.
