Thankyou all for the very kind words, I really do appreciate it very much.

My aim was to at least break 1,000lbs after so many years at 800-900lb fruit.

To finally make the breakthrough and get two over the 1000lb mark was a special moment and one I wont forget too quickly.

Thanks are in order to all my family first and foremost, without them it wouldn't have been possible. To all the growers I have met on here and in person, you know who you are. To Eddie Molloy, the man who brought Atlantic Giants to Ireland and a true gentleman. Ian and Stuart well what can i say your encouragement and enthusiasm is unquestionable so thankyou.

Finally to my late Grandad Seán Douglas who began this rollercoaster journey for myself and Patrick. Patrick I owe many thanks to as he has been growing with me from the begining and without him this wouldnt have happened.

Roll on 2017!

Micheál

I'm late stumbling into this, I'm thoroughly delighted for Míchéal with his new Irish Record! When we started we never thought that an 1100lb pumpkin would be a possibility yet at our weigh-off the top 3 pumpkins averaged over 1000lbs. Thanks to GPC committee members and Ed Molloy for judging on the day.

My own season was very successful considering I spent much of my time living about 200 miles away. I managed to set a new personal best at 917lbs. Many thanks to everyone who took the time to chat with the two lanky eejits from Ireland at the Big Show.

Well done again Míchéal, I hope you break the Irish record again next year ......... as long as my pumpkin weighs a few pound more.
