Hey guys ... So this my third year trying to grow a giant and I ran into an issue ... PLEASE HELP.... A few days ago some bugs starting getting on the end of my giant so I looked they the forums here and added daconil to try to keep the bugs off... It looks like it's kinda working to keep them away but on the spot where they were getting to my giant some black spots started to appear today... What can I do? Is my pumpkin done ? Should I carefully try to cut away these black spots, like shave them down? Should I put a fan on the pumpkin? Can I put rubber cement or something on this spot that is raw? Any help please advise I can post a ton pics

At a quick glance that looks like rot. Bad nasty rot. Really sorry but that could be the end. Is the area soft? If it is spongy I would think you have a major fungal infection, Not curable as far as I know. Dust with a fungicide, micro sulfur or copper or a chemical type anyway. I have only seen that black ugliness when the kin was rotting from the inside, hopefully you just have a dirty surface. Best of luck.

Bugs starrting biting at the end of this thing and took off a thin layer of the end of it, then i put the daconil on it and its starting to heal finialyy then this black stuff shows up today and fell like its rot but coming from the outside in.... What do you put on a pumpkin to treat a cut? like I kinda wanna shave this black stuff off carefull then hit it with a solid cut treatment and i feel like it will heal. sap wanta to come out of this end underneath the black stuff

Cooper and sulfur are what you might call contact fungicides. That is they have to come into direct contact with the fungus or mold. They are great for keeping the new stuff that lands from getting out of control. A systemic will get into the flesh of the plant and help prevent the disease from eating or living on the healthy tissues of the plant. There are many out there, you just need to get to a nursery or grow store and ask for one. I would go both ways, can't hurt at this point.
