Was measuring my 1734.5 Clementz with my daughter when I heard that dreadful popping noise.it had gained 35# the day before and only gave me 15# off this measurements right around 500#. What deficiency might have caused this?

As far as the popping sound .... I have had melons do that while leaning on them slightly. If your pumpkin did that, i would have to think that it cracked inernally.
Does it have a dill ring anywhere ?
Not sure about deficieny. Could be genetic even.

If your clementz has alot of ribs, its easy to mismeasure the cc. If you measure on the small side yesterday, then on the big side today, you could be off by 2 or 3 inches. That could be a 10-15 pound difference. I do it all the time. I personally would recommend taping once a week, other wise they will drive you crazy with all the ups and downs.

Yeah definitely going to start cutting back on the measurements. Was a pretty smooth pumpkin probably one of my most healthiest. Done now she's gone soft along the crack

You can try prainting it with straight Daconil after scraping off soft stuff, and it might heal up. I had one with a big groundhog bite heal up that way and give me a personal best a few years ago. Won't get the HD but still might get decent size. Maybe you can keep to going long enough to get mature seeds. That one sure has great color.

Painted it with a captain paste, she was definitely on pace to be pretty, was just feeling around and it didn't seem near as soft as earlier. Going to give it a couple days
