As I really dont know for sure but can you push a higher nitrogen and maybe save splitting a pumpkin by leaving a second pumpkin past the one you want to keep?Almost like a shock absorber

Yes, some grow 2 on a plant but your sizes will be smaller. Like Pap says, if you ain't blowin them, you ain't growin them.

If you have fruit on the vine, you want to keep the nitrogen down. Phosphorus and potassium(NOT 0-0-60!) are the main nutrients you want to feed the plants to grow the fruit. You need a soil test or tissue test to find out what other nutrients you need to add.

If you decide to cull the second pumpkin, cut the stem 1/3 of the way through each day for 3 days. You could risk blowing the remaining pumpkin apart if you just cut the cull off all at once.

throttle down-stand on the peddle-all or nothing is the motto.ya want a guarentee? buy a car--lol.
a fine line here between getting fat and getting slaughtered but, if you want to grow big ya gotta push big.
if your in it to win it? slow and steady dont cut it anymore. ps--- keeps those mains clean of soil and inspect every couple days. keep water off the main as much as possible to prevent rotting spots-etc. we hand water from here on out most days now.putting water-ammendments-drenches-etc where we want it, not where we dont want it.
