trying to replace old growth with new. i have areas of missing leaves.(from to much bifen and wind) is it best for the pumpkin to keep stopping new growth or let a new vine grow between the oldest rows

If you still have your root system I wouldn't grow more leaves if you are at Day 30. It ends up being a mess.

Same issue here in Manhattan Ks Darren...i'm turning my vines back and letting them grow in the rows. Not sure if it is best but that is what i'm doing.

You need roots to take up water and nutrients and leaves to absorb sunlight and carbon dioxide to turn all that into sugars to build the fruit. It just depends on how bad the leaf loss is. If it is too severe I would let some grow, just not so much it gets tangled up.
