welcome to this crazy hobby. I wait until I see the first true leaf form. That is so I know which way the vine will want to run. The vine will go opposite of the first leaf. If you have any questions, you can email me at bnot1962@gmail.com
I have been in contact with a few new growers around the area.
Watch out Wisconsin...Minnesota is growing!

Just a little correction the 2032 was a Mathison and the mier would have been a 2323. Good luck

Welcome MnGiants - I am new to the hobby as well - its a lot of fun - Once you see the first true leaf aka the one that looks like a pumpkin leaf, is 5 inches across you can move them outside. I am sure others will agree disagree but its what i was told :) - Also, if you started them inside make sure you acclimate them to summer sun - slowly start putting the plant outside otherwise it will burn and ask questions that's how you learn - also if you search in the "general discussion" and "new growers" message boards on this site you will find the answers to a lot of your questions and learn some good info too. Grow a big one!

Wouldnt wait more than 10 days. I find the stem and leaves are very weak when they are indoors too long. I think they get spoiled without outside exposure. This year I planted all mine direct in patch in April. Light bulb and pail on top to warm soil. Every seed came up. It is risky but I would do it again.Btw there was still days with snow.

I'm no expert, but this is what I'd do. Transplant it into the garden when the first true leaf is about 1" in size. Loosen the soil well in the planting site. After planting, keep it watered well, but not too much. You've gotten a late start, so this will hopefully result in the roots taking off quickly. As to soil ammendments, hopefully someone more knowledgeable will chime in. It will be interesting to see what your plant can produce with the later start. If you have success, maybe you can take your pumpkin to a local weighoff. Best of luck to you! Doug

I agree with Doug get that plant into the real ground and real sun as quick as possible. It's not like the harsh early season is. The soil will warm and able to go to work for you immediately.

Wallacewow.com is a good place to start looking for things like azos, which I think you were referring to?
