It happens in nature with bees. So what would the outcome be if I pollinated just for example a 811 Gerhardt female with a 1059 Vincent male and a 359 Foss male? It takes many pollen grains to pollinate right? What will the next year pumpkin produce? Supper Orange?

The next year pumpkin will be EITHER 811 x 1059 OR 811 x 359, and you will never know.

The seeds in this pumpkin will be like twins with different fathers. It takes one successful grain of pollen to produce one viable seed.

This would be considered an "open" pollination to most. Each lobe could be pollinated by either one. So you wouldn't know for sure which cross each of the seeds are. I have had success with just 1 male in the past. I think we lean towards overkill to reduce the chance of failure.

If you are just growing a pumpkin it does not matter. If you what to be able to track the genetics then it is bad. Each seed will have one or the others daddy.

As long as it is a controlled pollination with a AG your still in the realm of Atlantic Giant but it would be considered "open pollination". It would be dissapointing to grow one out and have it be a summer squash of some sort...

if you would like serious competition growers to try your seeds? always pollinate with just one set of males from the same plant. if you are just growing for your own pleasure and or neighborhood bragging rights? mix and match. pap
