Robert Borgers (bnot) has the largest carrot plant that i have ever seen and its only june !!! if the carrot matches the size of the plant, then their is no doubt that he will set a new RECORD when he is done. go Robert !!!

If you grow carrots in a warm(er) environment, it will produce more leaves than carrot. The trick with carrots is cool, slow and steady. Good luck though.

Since this carrot is being grown in the basement it has been in about a 68-72 degree environment the whole time. Maybe I should lower the air conditioner temp. I am still thinking about setting up a CO2 system for her. Indoor ppm of co2 is higher than outside but way below the level that a plant can utilize. Thanks for the good comments.

She was fun to grow. Now I get to figure out what caused the early bolting. Early reading says environmental stress. Her environment never changed unless it was the moisture level deep in the container. It felt wet a finger down..but further was dry. Next year i think will have to change the media so it drains better, and put moisture sensors at different levels. This hobby is full of disappointments, but each one is an opportunity to learn how to do something better. Next year....5 pounds or heavier than what my outdoor carrot weighs this year.

i would have left it in the ground to see what would have happened ??? to see if the whole plant would have bloomed out or just a few tops ? maybe other limb would have taken over ? great job Rob i think that you have raised the bar on carrot growing.
