I bought a bag of Alfalfa meal from local farm store.
Here's a link to exactly what I got:
http://www.leedstone.com/arco-dehydrated-alfalfa-meal.html
On the bag it says 17% alfalfa meal. It also lists crude fat and crude fiber. I thought it would be 100% alfalfa meal. Or does the dehydrating process just make it come out to this percentage? Just wondering if anyone here could clarify? Would this be O.K. for a gardening ammendment? Also would it draw unwanted critters in the garden?

I believe that is just alfalfa that you bought. When it is farm feed it will also include the crude fat and fiber that is in the alfalfa, but if you look just below that the only ingredient it has listed is alfalfa.

I called my feed store 10 minutes after I got home when I saw the percentage as well. He assured me it was pure alfalfa meal. I added mine a month ago. We've had a ton of rain so I'm thinking about getting some more and adding into the top inch or so around the middle and peripheral areas of the patch. It's low in NPK so won't burn, good organic matter and loaded in micronutrients.
