Has anyone encountered seeds inside the female blossom?

Yes, Probably best to choose the next flower down the line. Although you can get a OK pumpkin from it, why chance it unless you have no other decisions to make. Early flowers will do this, at least so in my patches.

I second the WiZ. I had the seeds/blossom happen last year, pollinated the blossom anyway, and got a perfectly shaped pumpkin that rotted 14 days after pollination.
Go for the second female blossom.

How do you tell if there's seeds in the blossom? Just curious, because my pumpkin stop growing at 10 pounds last year..

Joe did you set the next pumpkin? seeds in the blossom are a deformity where the ovary is already exposed. I went three years with pumpkins aborting early only to find out it was a soil problem

Last year a lot of the blossoms on my 1744 Fulk plant had seeds in them. I ended up using one of them and grew a 1460 lb with a good shape.

Last year not knowing what I was doing I pick the first female blossom and fertilized it by hand. I didn't know anything about seeds in the blossom.
Also instead of letting three pumpkins grow I just pick the first one and culled the rest.
I have a question .....I was wondering, are the seeds just tiny specs about the size of a flea...right in the flower?
Thank for any info on this
