As usual getting a late start... mother nature hasn't been kind and I got behind on patch prep. I have to get the little darlings in the ground ASAP. As a result some of my young plants are on the leggy side. I should know this but how much is to much when planting the stem. I know a tomato you can plant right up to the first leaf and it will root. Is it inviting rot to put to much of the stem under ground? I don't want to leave to much so any wind will whip it to death...

I've always planted my leggy seedlings right up to the seed leaves with no issues. Just don't bury the growing tip and you'll be fine.

Yes up to the bottom of the cots. If not first wind that comes by will break it off.....roots will form beneath those cots.
