Has anyone tried this stuff? For $12 a bag I was pretty disappointed. It is a new product this year at my big box store....just curious if I just got a bad bag or this is what this product is. Let me know thanks!!! http://www.bigpumpkins.com/Diary/DiaryViewOne.asp?eid=254753

I have never tried it q tip. I hope there was more in there than sticks. If you want to spend some money...i have info from U of M on how to get it tested. They would probably recommend the Spurway greenhouse/florist test. The deadline for weekly media analysis is Wednesday at noon. The cost per test is $20. I have been meaning to send in some Fox Farm Ocean Forest. It could be interesting to compare.

My local garden center used to sell Dr compost. He told me last year that they started cutting corners and the stuff wasn't as good as when it first came out. I would be very disappointed to find that much course stuff in it. I have used Fox farm ocean forest and Happy frog mixed together. So far I like the results.

Cool idea bnot... A few years ago my garden plants shit the bed in the foxfarm soil... I couldn't understand it.. Then I learn they opened up a new facility in the east coast...total junk..they have since straightnend it out as far as I can tell but watching so cal's stuff growing I'm wondering if it's still not as good as the west coast stuff...send it right back to the factory.. Throw a can of dinty in for good measure ..

I really like the fox farm products - ocean forest is awesome - I was just hoping this was a similar product that I could get at the big orange store instead of heading to a hydro store that's about triple the distance and the cost is about $8 more a bag - looks like I'll be driving to the hydro store :) - well maybe this is just a public service announcement for people considering the dr. Earth product - the choice is yours but plan on spendIng about 20 minutes digging out logs - thanks bob and Mike!

I have picked up a some happy frog also. I might have to try a side by side comparison grow. The happy frog comes in a 2 cu ft bag vs the 1.5 cu ft ocean forest. A little bit cheaper. It still empty my wallet to fill the 40 gallon pots i have sitting waiting. Carina "de la zanahoria gigante" is an ocean forest blend also. I am wondering if some liquid drink from spain might give her some energy to keep up with her brother Carl. I wonder if it is legal to ship it here......

Yes, ocean forest kicks butt! My carrot and all tomatoes are planted with ocean forest and nothing else. The carrot is busting at the seems!;)
Make sure its the west coast connection. They sell to all those " other " growers out here and it has to be good. lol
