I was thinking you want a 10 to 15 degree difference between night and day

Soil Surface Temperature VS Air Temp are a huge difference in a hoop. I try to keep the soil surface temp around 80 to 85 degrees. A simple foam cooler over the pumpkin plant at night really makes a difference

YOU DONT WANT THE TEMP AROUND THAT PLANT TO HOT AT NIGHT BECAUSE IT WILL NEVER HARDEN OFF.
OUR RANGE AT NIGHT IS 53-58 DEGREES,BUT AS OTHERS HAVE POSTED ANY TEMP THAT KEEPS THE PLANT FROM COLD SHOCK(FREEZING) IS GOOD.
ALSO MOST NIGHTS (TEMP PERMITTING) WE DONT COVER UNTIL 8-9 PM SO THAT THE HARDENING PROCESS CAN BEGIN.
IT BEARS CAUTION HERE TO ALSO MENTION DAY TIME TEMPS ARE REALLY CRITICAL TO A YOUNG PLANTS DEVELOPMENT.
ALWAYS ERR ON THE SIDE OF CAUTION. " WHEN IN DOUBT-AIR IT OUT" NOTHING WORSE THAT HEAT DAMAGE TO A YOUNG PLANT. YOU CAN GET SET BACK AND IF DAMAGED ENOUGH? KILL THE PLANTS.IF YOU CANT BE HOME TO CHECK THE HEAT ? THEN LEAVE IT OPEN ENOUGH TO HANDLE THE MID DAY HEAT.
